Solar Installer Growth is an independent site for people who own solar installation companies and are tired of buying leads at $200 a piece from vendors who sold the same homeowner to three of your competitors.
Who writes it
Steve Meitler is the editor. He has spent years running growth campaigns for local service businesses, solar installers among them, and has watched the same pattern repeat in every market: the installer with the best crews and the longest warranty record is invisible online, while the loudest sales organization owns the search results and the front door. Nothing on this site is theory. If a tactic has not been run on a real account with a real budget, it does not get written up.
Where the benchmark numbers come from
The benchmark report is built from public Google Business Profile listings. We search Google Maps for solar companies in every US state, collect the public fields on each listing (review count, star rating, website link, hours, primary category, location), remove duplicates by Google place, and compute the statistics. Nothing comes from behind a login and no personal data is stored. Reviewer names are never kept.
The dataset currently holds 32,440 listings across 51 states and is refreshed monthly. Solar is a messy category to measure, because the same company may be listed as a solar energy company, an electrician or a roofing contractor, and because the industry's consolidation leaves dead listings up for months. Treat every figure as accurate to within a point or two, not to the decimal.
Editorial rules
- No pay-to-play. No equipment brand, financing platform, lead vendor or software company can buy a mention, a recommendation or a ranking here.
- Every number is sourced, either to our own dataset or to a primary source such as Google's own documentation or a government publication. Where something is opinion, it is labeled as opinion.
- We do not publish incentive figures, tax credit percentages or utility rate numbers. Those change by state, by year and by legislative session, and a stale number in a marketing guide can end up in a customer proposal. We tell you how to talk about incentives and where to verify them.
- Guides are written for an owner who is on a roof or in a permitting portal most of the day. If a step cannot be done by a busy owner or handed to one office person, it does not go in.
- We date every guide and update it when the platforms change.
How the free trial works
The site is funded by the marketing work we do for solar companies. We offer every service as a free 14-day trial because an installer carrying $80,000 in panels and a payroll should see something work before paying anyone a retainer.
You text or call, tell us which service you want to try (Google Ads, Meta ads, AI search optimization, local SEO and Google profile work, a website, social media, review generation, missed-call text-back and follow-up, email and SMS, bookkeeping, or cold-call appointment setting), and we set it up in your own accounts, usually within 48 hours. It runs for 14 days. There is no card on file and nothing renews.
Two weeks does not close a solar deal. We are honest about that. What 14 days does show you is whether the phone rings, whether the leads are homeowners with a roof and a bill instead of renters, and whether anyone here knows what they are doing. That is enough to make a decision on.
At the end you keep it at a price quoted before the trial started, switch to something else, or stop. Text or call (385) 832-6175, or use the free trial page.
